The most peace-loving countries, rating of 2015

The Independent Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) has compiled ranking of the most peaceful and safe countries for life. It includes 162 states, covering 99.6% of the world population. The assessment took into account the level of security in society, the degree of involvement in internal or external conflict and the level of militarization in 2015.

10. Czech Republic

The only country from the former Soviet bloc that has fallen into the most peace-loving countries of the world due to minimal infant mortality and a high level of women's employment. This is the most non-religious country in Europe (59% of the population are atheists). They also like beer - per person, 143 liters are consumed per year.

9. Australia

Sixth state in terms of area in the world, second country in terms of human development index and sixth in terms of quality of life. Four major cities of this country entered the top 10 best cities in terms of comfort in the world. Australians pay much attention to the ecological safety of their mainland: it is forbidden to import products, plants and products from fur, wood and other natural materials into the country.

8. Japan

This is the first and last country in the world affected by the use of nuclear weapons. In the 21st century, it is among the leaders in life expectancy (82.12 years).

7. Canada

This country is in second place in the world in terms of area after the Russian Federation. Moreover, the population density in it is one of the lowest. It is still believed that the head of state is the Queen of Great Britain, who runs the “colony” through the Governor General. It has the world's longest unguarded border with the United States. Fairly enjoys the reputation of a calm, peaceful and safe country, which contributes to the growth of immigration to the country.

This country held the championship for three years in the ranking “The most stable country in the world” according to the Fund for Peace. Active member of many environmental organizations. In Finland itself, ecology is one of the best on the planet.

5. Switzerland

Back in 1815, the neutrality of Switzerland was recognized at the Vienna Congress. After the congress, the country did not take part in any military conflict. Thanks to this, Switzerland has become one of the centers of global financial policy.

4. New Zealand

Another country thriving under the nominal rule of Queen Elizabeth II. For the first time in the world, it proclaimed its territory a nuclear-free zone. This means that ships with nuclear power plants or nuclear weapons on board are not allowed to enter New Zealand’s territorial waters.

3. Austria

Since the mid 50-ies of the twentieth century, this country has the international legal status of permanent neutrality. Austria refused to participate in wars, does not allow the presence of troops of another country on its territory and has not concluded a single military treaty. The country's defense spending is only 0.9% of GDP.

2. Denmark

The constitutional monarchy, one of the founding countries of the United Nations, is characterized by a high level of medical safety - health care costs account for 13.6% of GDP. For comparison: defense spending in Denmark is 3% of GDP. Back in the early seventies of the twentieth century, the health insurance system was liquidated in the country. Medical practice and hospital care are completely free.

1. Iceland

In the safest country in the world, there is no private ownership of natural resources. At the same time, the ecological situation in Iceland is one of the most favorable, since heating in the country uses the energy of geothermal sources. The country is characterized by an almost complete absence of crime, a high level of social protection and an excellent healthcare system. Iceland has no regular armed forces. Iceland has the highest birth rate in Europe and it comes first in terms of female employment. However, 45% of Icelandic politicians are women. It is not surprising that Icelanders do not want to leave their blessed island - the level of migration from the country is extremely low.
